My passion for cars started at an early age. My parents reminisce now of the hours spent taking me as a toddler to the bridge over the dual carriageway near home to watch the cars go by. This passion remains today which is reflected by the belief shown for the CarCrowd. I was one of the first investors in the business and a shareholder of the first ever car and now as the Co-founder and CTO am fully committed. The classic car industry has shown fantastic returns circa 185% over the last 10 years (according to Knight Frank luxury index), however this has been largely reserved for the ultra high networths. What we have unlocked is a regulated approach to democratising classic car investment, and have shown good performance in our portfolio so far. It is an exciting asset class and with the continued growth of alternative assets globally, this is a good time to get involved. I spent 16 years in retail working in Aldi, across operations and IT including leading a digital transformation across the UK and Irish businesses. I led a team to open Aldi's first ever AI driven no tills store, a direct competitor to Amazon and really innovative project which won the Grocer Technology project of the year.
